A Diligent Student

Do we find pleasure in being diligent? Are we students that start the semester taking great notes and then after mid-terms we start to slow-down and to lose grip of our note-taking skills? The Bible teaches us that there is a reward when we are diligent in our field.

“Whoever works his land will have plenty of bread, but he who follows worthless pursuits lacks sense.” Proverbs 12: 11

You may not have fifty acres of land, but you have a degree in a specific field. You can imagine that at first, to work on your degree, just as in a land, you will not see the reward immediately. You will see it after sweating and spending time working on it. Then it’s a matter of time to see the positive reward, harvest, of your work. Especially if you have a scholarship while in college, then you are already a step ahead of your game.

“Whoever is slothful will not roast his game, but the diligent man will get precious wealth” Proverbs 12:27.

You have already hunted your game; you are in college. Congratulations on that! Now it is a matter of roasting the degree you are perusing by studying and being diligent at it. But, don’t forget that you are doing all of this for the Lord. Pray to the Lord to have the attitude he wants you to have while you are studying, sitting on a lecture, reading, doing homework, or any task ahead of you.

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men” Colossians 3:23.
