Homestead, Florida
Spring Break 2018
Our time in Homestead, FL was very humbling and encouraging. We were able to work with the Homestead Church of Christ during this week in various service opportunities. These services included: feeding the homeless, painting the Church building, going on a prayer walk through Miami Dade college campus, and many other opportunities for fellowship. After a long day of painting we were given the opportunity to assist in the Homestead Church of Christ's weekly ministry of traveling to different communities to bring Vacation Bible School. This was an amazing experience that challenged the way we view what reaching out to the community truly looks like.
A big portion of our week was spent in fellowship with the youth that attend the Christian school that the Church supports. This time was blessed as we got to better know these kids and influence their faith. We were also given the chance to assist in Hurricane relief efforts with the Marathon Church of Christ. All of these experiences really opened our eyes and humbled our hearts to the need for Jesus in this world. This trip left a lasting impact on our hearts and gave us the chance to encounter people we will never forget.
Our time in Belize was humbling and eye opening. Four of us from the LFC met up with twelve other brothers and sisters in Christ to serve the community in Belize. This group was brought together by DiscipleTrips, a ministry that organizes members of the church to serve on short-term mission trips (this is the ministry we went to Detroit with as well). We spent our time in two separate towns; Silk Grass and Dangriga. There has been an established church in Silk Grass for a couple of years now, but in Dangriga the church has just been meeting for a couple of months. Brother Rayan Gordon is the minister for both churches. He lives in Dangriga and drives between the two congregations regularly to hold services.
Our college minister Isaac McNally held a gospel meeting in Silk Grass Sunday evening through Tuesday evening while another brother from Houston held a gospel meeting in Dangriga Tuesday through Friday evening. This was a great chance for us to get into the community and tell the locals about these meeting times. During our time in both Silk Grass and Dangriga we did a lot of door knocking. We wanted to encourage the brethren that met at both congregations and we also wanted to meet new people in the community. While door knocking we were humbled at the hospitality the locals offered to us. Many of our encounters ended with opportunities to Bible study or to just encourage our brothers and sisters in their faith.
During the evenings each night our worship altogether was an amazing experience. The newer established congregation in Dangriga that normally has about 15-20 people ended up having 93 people for the gospel meeting. These nights of worship were so encouraging and reminded us all of what John speaks of in Revelation 7:9 "...I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb."
Some of our other services while there included laying concrete for the congregation at Silk Grass, helping with VBS at the church, and visiting shut-ins. Overall our time in Belize was blessed and very fruitful. We ask for continual prayers for these two congregations!

Spring Break 2017
Detroit, MI
The Lions for Christ traveled to Detroit, MI over spring break to work with the Sunset Church of Christ. While there we interacted with the Arab Christian ministry learning how to best minister to the Muslim community that resides in America. We got the chance to serve the poor helping at varius food banks and churches downtown. Other activities we did throughout the week were making/passing out lunches to the homeless in downtown Detroit, visiting the shut-ins that are apart of the Sunset Church of Christ body, and daily devotionals/worship services with our group.
This trip was an eye opening experience that set our hearts on fire and motivated us to get back and minister to all in Commerce, TX!
